Located in the heart of the
Southern Lakes Region of south-central Minnesota and covering 415 square miles, Waseca
County is known for its rich, black soil producing record crops every year. Our major
industries are farming, printing, manufacturing and tourism. The population (2000 census)
of 19,526 live in and around the communities of Janesville, New Richland, Waldorf and
Waseca--the county seat.
Built in 1897, the Waseca County courthouse is on the National Register of
Historic Places and houses most of the County Offices. Waseca County has an active
historical society museum and research center, arts center, libraries, parks and
recreation of all kinds--lakes, bike trails, excellent schools and sports activities.
The total 2010 Waseca County budget is
22,712,243.
The local property tax levy is
$10,401,184.
COMMISSIONER MEETINGS -
Regular meetings will be
held on the first and third Tuesday of each month, beginning at 9:30 am,
with the exception that during the last month of each quarter,
the 2nd meeting of the month- held on the 3rd
Tuesday- will begin at 6:30 pm. (March 16; June 15;
September 21; December 21).
