Waseca Police Department K9 Unit

The WPD has a canine unit. K9 Officer Schroeder and his partner, Sarge respond when reasonable to do so for searching buildings; tracking persons; apprehending criminal suspects; locating evidence, contraband or lost articles; assisting with crowd control; and public relations at special events.

Sarge is a German Shepard.

K9 Officer Schroeder and Sarge train on a regular basis and go to qualification trials throughout the region. Sarge is certified by the United States Police Canine Association (USPCA).
